Thursday June 26
My shift was canceled for the evening so I spent the day with the light table, the scanner, my laptop and my Wii. After defeating Classic in Brawl with Mr. Game and Watch, and unlocking Jiggly Puff I packed and watched I Love the New Millennium covering 2006 and 2007. A little early, dontcha think, VH1? I watched anyway cause I adore Michael Ian Black and Hal Sparks. We went to bed after watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
Friday
We got up really early only time to get dressed and brush our teeth, load up our gear and drive to Revel’s parents’ place. His mother took us to the airport so we wouldn’t have to pay for parking and she had an EZ pass.
Flight was okay. I sipped on coffee and snacked on biscottis while I played with my DS. After we landed we had a real breakfast at a Starbucks booth. I had a mint mocha chip frappucino and an apple Danish.
We took a shuttle ride to the hotel where we had a brief mix up. We were about to call Greg B and ask him to come down and give us a hand, but things got figured out and we got our keys.
I loved the decorum of our rooms. The one red wall while the others were yellow, the furniture, and the way the bed has been dressed. We dropped off our bags and I plugged in my DS and we went down for registration. First panel was voice acting with Greg W. Greg kept asking for volunteers to read and he gave tips on how to perform. His son also called him during the middle of the panel.
After the panel I was feeling the effect of only getting four hours of sleep so I went up to our room and took a nap.
I woke up feeling thirsty and there were no soda vending machines in the hotel. There was a CVS pharmacy around the corner. I figured I could get a bottle of soda there. First I needed some paper cash. Ellen showed me where the ATM was located but the fee turned me off I decided to try and find to see if there was a Bank of America nearby and there was on right next to the pharmacy. After getting my monies I went into CVS and got a bottle of Dew and called up Revel to see what he wanted to drink. Turned out he went to Chili’s with a group, and without me. His excuse was that he was napping. He could have woken me.
I checked out the dealer and the art room, chatted with Nikki and checked out the art and bought a copy of items of Enchantment and chatted with Weirdlet until I saw Revel and wagged my finger at him.
Opening ceremonies began with music video goodness. Then came the usual: We were welcomed by the con staff and Greg W. Introduced to next year’s Gathering in 2009. Greg talked about the Hot Topic shirt, told us to keep spreading the word , asked for Con Virgins and wanted to see how many Gatherings people have been too. He showed the pitch and the spin offs and the Leica reel and the Last. A lot more has been added since the last time.
After opening ceremonies I was hungry. Gside suggested Indian and he, Revel and I went to mount Everest. I had a delicious chicken dish in an almond cream sauce. After we returned to the room I was still a little hungry and I was in the mood for some ice cream and I went to Coldstone and ordered a cheesecake fantasy in a love it size. After getting my ice-cream we went to Gside’s room and he showed us his laptop. It was a baby lap top, not much bigger than my DS.
The end of the day we spent it in our room. We watched some Venture bros and I played some DS games.
