Reviews are in the cuts.
I am not going complain about appearances, as in the fact that Umbridge did not appear toady, or that Tonks's hair wasn't short or spikey.
I will complain that it was seriously edited. We know Cho wasn't the one who betrayed Harry and the others, but they needed some way to break em up since they cut out the date. I can underestand that...except I wanted to see Hermione's zit curse go into effect.
I was a bit disappointed with the lack of quidditch, not because I really loved the scenes, but I wanted to see Luna with the lion and eagle hats, and I wanted to see Ron kick ass.
I loved Luna, she was well cast. I just enjoyed seeing her skipping about and all her silly quirks.
Bellatrix was just as I pictured her, creepy and psychotic.
Damn it, Sirius looked quite sexy. I have never seen Gary Oldman as sexy before, it had to be the hair, that had to be it.
Umbridge, while not appearing quite like a toad she was also well cast, so evil in a not quite obviously evil way. She only ahemmed once, but that giggle and oh all that PINK and the kittens. Revel whispered in my ear "Kill me now" when Harry was in her office.
I also loved the thestrals and Luna feeding the baby one. Something that is supposed to be creepy should not be that cute.
I also noticed little details that were kept true to the book. When Trelawny was sacked I noticed the Patil sisters where wiping at their eyes, visibly upset about what was happening to her, and in the house of Black, that one of the blackened areas had Andromeda underneath it, even if her history wasn't explained.
and now on the book
I had expectations of who was going to die in this book and I was right with a lot of them. I didn't expect Fred, Hedwig, Dobby, or Tonks to also die.
Those that I also thought were going to bite it were Hagrid, Arthur, Harry and Draco and they end up living.
I felt more sadness for Hedwig than I did for Madeye. I wish Fred, Lupin and Tonks's death were had a bit more of a moment.
I think we were all were right about Snape. I didn't expect that he knew Lily before they went to Hogwarts..and also knew Petunia as well. My eyes were actually watering when I read the pensive and the part with the doe.
Loved Dumbledore's history. I knew both Skeeter and Dodge were stretching the truth a bit, and the actual truth came from Dumbledore's brother and Dumbledore himself. Dumbledore proved he was human, and like all humans we all do stupid stuff when we were kids.
Moments I cheered: Oh where to start. There was the part when Harry, Ron and Hermione rescued the Muggleborns from the ministry, when Molly killed Bellatrix, when Neville slayed Nagini, when Trelawny dropped the crystal ball on Greyback's head, when Kreacher led the house elves into battle, and when RON AND HERMIONE KISSED.
Moments when I gasped: When George lost his ear, and when Ron splinced his arm.
Moments when I chuckled: The Twins's antics, when Ron was swearing about Merlin's saggy left- and nearly said nut and when Hermione was talking about wizards boasting about their wands, about the length and power.
Creepiest moment: Greyback's interest in Hermione. I wasn't sure if he wanted to eat her or wanted to have his way with her. (Okay there have been rumours of who might get cast for Half Blood Prince, and one of those names is Jack Davenport, most likely if he is cast he would play Voldy's daddy, but a part of me wants him as Greyback, can you jsut picture him all wild and scruffy again, and that moment with Hermione would even be creepier with that voice)
okay back to the review.
People who surprised me.
1. Dudley
2.Narcissa, but then again there is that love thing that tends to be Voldy's undoing.
3. Percy. I had almost thought he would never come back to his senses.
4. Petunia, but then Rowling had mentioned there was more too her.
And the little details: I am pretty sure the locket reminded a lot of people of the one ring, and the names for the kids. James and Lily makes sense for Harry and Ginnys and I loved the fact that Harry honored both Dumbledore and Snape when naming Albus. Both Ron and Hermione had another R and H. I am pretty sure Ted was snogging Bill and Fleur's kid, not just because she is the cousin of the other kids, but because Bill is the only one we seen get married...and that name they gave her. Scorpius makes scense considering how most of Draco's family have names in relation to the stars.
and things I do wonder about: I have a good feeling Minerva became headmaster... or headmistress, and I wonder if Luna married Neville or Dean.
It was a very good read except for one thing. Was I the only person who was a bit unerved with the constant use of "Reckon"?
