Part II Relationships
Sparrington
This was the first pairing I fell in love with in the fandom. The opposing forces, the clean respectable man of law and the dirty scoundrel of a trickster. Both are men who love the sea, both are clever in their own way, both are brave. There are several fun situations that cause the boys to end up together. While there are many who go for the Sparrow luring James into the pirate world. I tend to like having both stay in their own worlds, making secret rendezvous while Jack dodges the rest of the Navy and James hunts down every other pirate. I also tend to like stories where Jack becomes a privateer of sorts, enjoying his freedom while assisting his Commodore in hunting down other pirates.
Gillington
Another slash pairing I have grown to love. Both James and Andrew are men bound by duty and honor. Both have the same goals, the same standards, etc. They do seem like a smart match, and while it may seem easier in that they are on the same side they still have the struggle. Do they know that they both fancy each other the same way? The unresolved Sexual Tension between the two is boiling. They also have the fear of getting caught with the stigmata buggery has.
Grovette
While I haven’t written any fic with this pairing yet I have read a few and they were written so wonderfully that they mesh well. They are also two friends who decide to be much more. The one workaholic and the other more laid back one. They still have the scrutiny of possibly living in sin which adds a bit more UST to the already fun mix.
Norribeth
I have come across a few fics where they have been paired well romantically, but in most cases and they way that I write them, I prefer them in a sibling style relation ship. It is the vibe I received from Elizabeth in that she sees James as an older brother. I even think Governor Swann saw James as a surrogate son.
Norriana
This is a pairing that is not as popular than the others, but just as fun. I have written one in the Gentleman Pirate story. Like with Sparrington they are both from two different worlds, but unlike Sparrow, Anamaria is a bit more sensible, a bit more of a grownup and she can put James into his place.
James/OC
I love reading fics that pair James up with a well written OC, and after reading several I decided to try my hand at writing one. There was an connection with James and Julia, and as of now they are still on the friends basis. They like each other, but they are not certain how the other truly feels about them. They also play each other off well. He gives her the encouragement she needs and she appreciates his fine qualities.
Groves/OC
I haven’t really seen much of this kind of pairing and when I started to write The Chosen, I wasn’t planning on it. It was a pairing that wasn’t planned, considering one character was originally designed for a few scenes and that was it. This was a pairing that certainly started out on the wrong foot, considering Theo’s sense of humor had upset Abigail and she felt he hasn’t been more than truthful to her. They have grown on me considering how they tend to annoy each other.
