Spooky is being really rambunctious lately. She is jumping on the tables more often and that is a no-no for the kitties. I went to pick her up off the dining hall table and she sank her claws into my neck. What are you trying to do, strangle me?

I think all the cats are being odd. Charisma rarely cuddles up against me. She prefers to be on the TV. Vixen has retreated to the back room where we keep the desktop and she would either rest on the chair in front of my rolltop desk.

Velvet is getting better with her legs, but she still can't fully walk on her back legs yet and when she wants to scratch behind her ears she will tilt her head and her foot would shake in the scratching motion but she can't raise her leg to get to the spot. I gave her bath yesterday. I kept the water low and made sure both the shower curtain and liner were on the other side of the tub so she wouldn't get her claws in. The fiance called for work and while I was talking with him she managed to climb out of the tub. Hooray for Velvet.

I got to see the elusive Rice University. Will's brother's girlfriend just earned her Phd and we went to dinner to celebrate. It was Will's parents, his brother Joe, Natalie the graduate, and Natalie's mother. We went to a place that had three buildings merged together. The first one was a French cafe, the second was a Trendy American place and the third was a Scottish pub. We went to the Trendy place.

Will's father and Joe had a beer each and us women shared a bottle of white wine. I had the surf and turf, hosein beef with tiger shrimp on rice noodles...yummy. They chips they brought out were the kind they served in Indian Restaurants. The food was great and they brought Natalie a complimen tary chocolate dessert for earning her phd.

Will arrived after we had eaten, but we got him a togo meal, chicken stir fry. Our waiter even brought him a little container of the chips. He scarfed his meal down.

Afterwards we went into the Scottish pub. Sweet! I got carded. I had a margarita and we sat outside and watched the fireworks from Rice Stadium.I got to hear about Joe and Natalie's trip to Europe...well just England, Scotland and Paris. Joe enjoyed the UK, but did not like Paris because of the people...and it wasn't the French, it was the other tourists that bothered him. He said an Italian tourist elbowed him because Joe tried to prevent the guy from taking a picture of the Mona Lisa.

This is longer than I planned, and Charisma is cuddling my knee. Her ears must have been burning.
