Kaitlin had her first theme park experiance.

mom, Will, Kaitlin and myself went to Islands of adventure today. We walked straight past Seuss Landing, although we did show Kaitlin the Grinch, and the Lost Continent and straight to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter section of the park usurped the Dueling Dragon and the Flying Unicorn ride and turned it into Dragon Challenge and the Hippogriff. Mom sat in a nice shady spot with Kaitlin while Will and I went on the dragon ride. Up until now I never rode a twisty coaster with loops. All of my roller coaster experiances has been on wooden tracks and they just went up and down. It was a thrilling experiance and yes I did scream and yes I thought I was going to cover the people on the ground below with blue vomit from the Icee I downed a few minutes earlier but it was a great rush.

After the ride my mother and I went into Honeydukes and she got herself some fudge flies and I selected a chocolate frog. We had to wait in line to get into Ollivanders. The reason is that it was a set up where a group of thirty went in and got a little show. The actor selected a boy and went through the similar trial and error that Harry Potter went through until a wand was selected and then the kid and his family were lead into the main shop and everyone else followed...great strategy cause you know the parents cant refuse buying the kid the wand now.

After that we went to the Three Broomsticks for lunch. I had some cornish pastries and a salad and we all had some butter beer to drink. My mother said they tried several different variations of the drink with Rowling herself and she chose the the one that is now served. It does taste like cream soda and topped with a head of rich cream.

Once we have eaten and changed the baby, and it is a bit disturbing trying to use the toilet while hearing Moaning Myrtle in the background, Will and I went on the Hogwarts ride. We walked through the castle and a decent pace since it is during off season. We walked past moving paintings, Dumbledore's greeting then into one room where we got to see Harry, Ron and Hermione on a screen, and that was when they had a mechanical problem with the ride, but about 20 minutes later it was working again.

The ride was great. It was one of those hydraulics ride that moves. We moved around the castle. Inside was all props and mechanics outside was screens. We flew after Ron and Harry, got chased by a dragon, went through a huge spider's nest and one of those little bastards dripped water into my eye, got chased by dementors, watched Harry Pwn Draco on the Quidditch field and then ended the ride in the great hall.

Once we were done with Potter we went to Jurassic Park. Will and I rode the river ride and got only slightly wet. Then we marched on to Marvel and rode Spiderman. The set up was similar to the Hogwarts ride except it was in 3D and we forgot to grab some glasses. Ooops. Also the voices sound so freaking wrong. When Electro attacked both Will and I were. "Ah we miss Crispy."

Once we were done with Spidey I joined my mother and Kaitlin and Will went to ride on the hulk ride. One Twisty loop de loop coaster was enough for me at this time, that and I probably would throw up. While we waited for my husband to enjoy himself the three of us gals watched some of the actors dressed up as various heroes walk around. My mother got a great shot of Wolverine. The guy they got to play Cyclops was perfect...because he acted like a total dick. He was showing off, doing push ups, dancing and doing super model type of poses and he did not notice Captain America walk up behind him and drop ice down his pants. That was brilliant. Rogue came up to coo at my daughter and talk about how cute she was. She was well in character and had a southern accent.

Once Will was done we came back here where we had a simple dinner of sandwiches.
