Saturday
I first woke up with the sun shining through the window, but it was still before seven, So I slept a little bit longer before showering, getting dressed and then Revel and I went to Einstein’s Bros bagels for breakfast. I had a blueberry bagel with strawberry schmear and a chilled coffee drink. Once we were finished with our bagel goodness we went to Karine’s comic panel. She talked about different panel’s she had worked on in the past, showed her pretty awesome laptop/tablet and gave out tips.
After the panel had ended I hung out with Greg B, Aaron and Emambu and we got into a discussion on old cartoons and Greg and Aaron got into a disagreement on Transformers between G1 and Beastwars. We returned to our room where Greg showed us some info on Transformers and a few animated clips.
Next up was creating dynamic characters with Karine. She brought up the main focus of perspective, vanishing points and horizon lines and how everything lined up. She also drew different body types including babies and children.
When she was done Mara came in and the room turned cerulean, cornflower, and navy. Mara showed us how to draw breasts, butts and genitalia. Her panel ran until the start of the radio play.
The radio play was in an auditorium with flip top outlets. This year’s play covered more of the comic including an issue that has yet to be released so I can’t really discuss that part, and the play took place in chronicle logical order, and now I can understand why the comic jumps back and forth. At one point the rain outside grew very loud and the actors had to raise their voices even more.
We were in the mood for Italian, especially for pizza. We went to Dave’s Italian kitchen. It was a neat set up. We go inside and then down stairs to enter the restaurant. We ordered two pizzas. One was pan style with sausage and olives and the other was deep dish pepperoni. BEST. PIZZA. EVER. The only problem was no free refills for sodas, but it was a small place and the great pizza made up for that. On our way back to the hotel, Revel gave a few slices to a homeless man.
We chilled in the room, playing games, watched TV until Blue Mug which was in the auditorium. Some of the questions were not quite blue, but some were nice and naughty.
Things grew even more interesting when Patsy and Edina and their entourage arrived. Whoops I meant the Con staff who had been drinking and Jen and Susan were clearly drunk off their behinds. Greg W even stopped to ask how drunk they were.
Aaron asked who would win in a fight between cavemen and astronauts. (an argument from the Angel episode where Fred died) and not long after Greg got scared off by the urinals, the night ended. We gave shelter to Xypher and Elizabeth who were locals but were too tired to drive home.
