and winging, or it may just come off as general complaing or bitching...or it may even seem like a good question.

Extended hours until midnight? In the suburb of Houston Texas? Why? The usual closing is at ten at night.

The past two nights have been the same. I could count how many people came to my register between ten and midnight on one hand. Is it really worth it to keep the store open for a couple more hours?

Earlier people ask when we close and they were shcoked when I told them. They even ask why. I even had two old ladies who said they were worried about our safety.

Still a hell of a lot better than Kroger.

We did get everything cleaned up early and I got to leave about ten minutes after midnight instead of until thrity minutes. I did have to wait about 5 minutes for the frost to melt off my windsheild before I could drive.

Weird hours are part and parcel of Christmas retailing. No, they don't make sense. You'd tnink the numbers would prove it, but no. Every year they raise the bar and the next level down of managers get a little more desperate and the next thing you know it's Midnight Madness or some such silliness. Don't worry. January Inventory will be staring you in the face soon enough.

I would think it's easy money. Though that closing and then returning again in the morning sucks. Staying safe, well, it is well lit but one must still be aware of surroundings.
