spacebabie: River Tam and James Norrington...used when I write crossovers. (WTF)
S/H/IT's latest response in Station 8:

Oops. My bad! it is just hard for me too think that Lex is gay. what does he do that makes him look gay? C'mon! I've seen most of the ep's with Lex in them. He does nothing that is gay in them! What makes you think that he is gay?
I haven't been following that "debate." Didn't Greg W. get that ball rolling by offering, casually (not canonically?) that he personally sorta saw Lex as being gay?
It is official. Greg W was right in front of me when he did announce Lex being gay. Mentioned Lex's mate as character we haven't met yet. Might be one of Angela's rookery brothers for all we know.
*shrug* I can't help but recall, in this context, that Greg also though *I* was gay when we met at the first Gathering. I guess my point is, strictly in my personal opinion only, maybe he sees gayness where it isn't ... but then, this is his vision, so I really shouldn't quibble.
As a tribute to Thom Adcox (who is gay... no guessing on Greg's part about it), Greg Weisman decided that Lexington would be gay. By the time the series ended for us, Lexington still isn't sure about it himself, but he will eventually figure out his sexuality and choose a mate that is also male.

In a show that's main theme is tolerance and acceptance, I think it's quite appropriate.

I wouldn't notice it either, but I doubt I'd notice that Ennis and Twist are gay. I didn't even realzie Andrew Sullivan was gay until I started reaidnghis blog and not just independent articles where he didn't openly say it. I do however recognize that Xandir from Drawn Together is gay, so I'm not completely oblivious.

Granted some people think I'm gay, though singing karaoke to Barry Manilowe and the Village People does not dispel this image :)

... I think S/H/IT left their brain in their other pair of pants.. in another dimension..
Though stereotypes do hold some bit of (often exaggerated) truth in most cases.. People don't have to look or act in any particular manner in order to be gay. Plzkthnx.

And by that last comment, I was referring to DemonicLover's response, just so there's no confusion.

Okay, I'm a little confused about the "S/H/IT" nick name. It looks like the word "Shit" But could I assume it also means "She/He/It" like nobody is sure what gender Demonic Lover is? Just curious.

Both covers Demonic Lover. Learned the whole thing from Fandom Wank

From just that little bit you excerpted about Demonic Lover's post, I conclude two things:

(1) DL is relatively new to fandom; probably came aboard sometime within the last year. Because if I recall correctly, the official confirmation about Lex being gay came out at the Gathering two years ago (maybe three years ago?), and much hullabaloo was made of that news all over the message boards for months afterwards.

(2) DL watches too much TV and not enough Real Life. Not every gay man is a screaming queen, or even prone to showing affection in public any more than the average straight man is. If he turned off the TV, walked out and started really mingling with people and treating them as people, not just mobile objects in the path of his/her day (it's appalling how many folks have that attitude), he'd probably learn a lot. And yes, I have decided that DL is male; either that or a female in the mid-to-low teens. Because most mature women have already learned that the gay stereotype is just that, a stereotype, and wouldn't ask such a silly question.

I would agree with both of these assessments.
