He doesn't like things that are older than him.

"That movie sucks cause it's old."

The movie in question? Close Encounters.

I grew out of that "Anything Old sucks" phase when I hit my 18th year.

The whole attitude came about because my father made him watch the original The Thing. the one frm the 50's. Granted it's not nearly as good as the John Carpenter version, but it was pretty creepy for it's time, and old movies like that are fun to watch cause in your mind you can picture either Joel or Mike with the bots.

My folks popped in the Close Encounters DVD...without asking if I wanted to watch :P and they asked him to watch instead and that was when he started to bitch again.

There are tons of great films that are over 25 years old. Films today tend to be more glossed over with effects or filled with actors too poplular for their own good for no reason. Older films had more restrictions so directors had to get more creative in handling effects and actors were legendary. Close Encounters is a great film as was Jaws, Duel, Deer Hunter, Apocolypse Now, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, ect...

He will grow out of it in time when he realizes his favorite films will soon fall into the "old" catagory.
