spacebabie: River Tam and James Norrington...used when I write crossovers. (Default)
Had a really good Mother's day. I had a Mcdonald's Big Breakfast with Hotcakes for breakfast and recieved some Lush goodies and blue topaz and sapphire heart shaped earrings. My hubby is so wonderful for getting me them. The Lush stuff was a request and because I lost an earring that was also blue topaz and heart shaped, earrings I had since I was 15, he got me the new pair to replace them. I don't know if I can top that for Father's day, but I'll try.

We spent the day at Will's parents. I made a crochet phone bag for my mother and his mother and gave Kaitlin some Color Magic paper, glitter pens, Color Magic Markers, Color Magic finger paint and crayons and let her go nuts and after she was done I added a bit more glitter and some stick on shinies and turned them into cards.

Found out on mother's day that my mom was in the hospital, no one called to tell me she was there since the previous Wednesday. What a way to find out.

Called her today and she is home and doing much better.

A few days ago Will got Kaitlin an inflatable mini pool that has a waterfall and a slide. Dinosaur themed even came with two inflatable dinos. We played with that yesterday and boy did she love it.

As a child I was not big on dolls. The few exceptions were Strawberry Shortcake and She-ra...wait that one was more of an action figure, but the Mattel type of dolls were a meh from me.

Ponies on the other hand were my thing. Loved those ponies back in the day.

My have times have changed.

The new pony cartoon is meh, Kaitlin loves it and I watch it with her. They toys have shrunk and I have never really been into pony toys since Early 90's.

The Pony Fandom? Holy bag of do not want Batman. You have the Extreme Bronies who dub it a manly show meant just for guys and they think the toon is just for them and then you have the Extreme Pegasisters who are "My goodness how dare guys like this. Ewww No boys allowed." There are some Bronies who are cool and tolerant and the same with Pegasisters and Pegasisters who are wary of Bronies because of the extremes...and then there is [livejournal.com profile] curseangel Who is a card carrying SJW or SJ Sallie and Do not Engage.

And then I found a doll series with web cartoons that also teach love and tolerance. That it's cool to have your own style, to be a little freaky, to be anything and still accepted and have friends. I'm talking about Monster High.

Mattel how did you do it? I love the toons with Lagoona's Aussie accent, Clawdeen's Jersey accent, Abbey's Russian accent and mannerisims. I love the characters...especially Spectra and Draculara...so cute.

And the dolls are amazing. They have the details so amazing and all the moveable joints. Frankie and her stitches, neck bolts and two colored eyes, Abbey with her body sparkles and tusks, Cleo's bandages, Spectras transparent hands, Lagoona's fins and webbed hands. I can just go on and I love the fact that the child of Medusa is a guy.

The fandom seems nice. The only snag is the mass buyers who buy out some of the dolls and then sell them on ebay for like 80 dollars a buck. Jerks it's not just collectors who like them. The target audience is girls six and over who would like a doll of their favorite character.

Oh well. I hope someday I can land my hands on dolls of Spectra, Rochelle, and Robecca.
