Damn Bee thing

I want to go out and get the mail but there is this huge striped insect flying and hovering over the walk way and across the bushes. It looks bigger than the usual social wasps than I'm used to. I don't know if it's a bee or a hornet, or a yellow jacket. All I know is it is huge and it's freaking me out!

I wish it was cold. Damn things are not around when it's cold.
