Alright. I'll give you that. Either to enslave us or to destroy us and take what is useful from the planet - though since we've done so much damage to it I dunno if that's as likely as enslavement.

It's not a barren wasteland yet, and we still have quite a few inorganic resources that could be used (precious metals, rock, etc).

Oh, certainly, there is... waaaaaaaait one second... I object to the phrasing of the question! "...there is *other* intelligent life..."? And why in distant galaxies? We have yet to find one single intelligent species in our own! ;)

Bust seriously - allegedly intelligent life out there? Let's focus on getting ourselves out there first, and then if we bump across someone, let us hope they're less aggressive than we are... :P
