Great movie and better than the Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I wouldn't be surprised if the book did inspire Rowling to create some of the treats found in HoneyDukes. (And Dudley had all the worst qualities expressed in the four brats)
Ah yes the brats. Each of the four other children seem to embrace one the four deadly sins and in a way their undoing: Augustus=Gluttony, Violet=Pride, Veruca=Greed and with Mike's aggressive attitude=Wrath...and Violet's mother had a bit of Lust (She seemed to have been flirting with both Vercua's father and Willie Wonka) These kids were much brattier in this version.
Nice to see the little boy who played Peter in Finding Neverland as Charlie. Talented young actor.
The Oompas were awsome. Each song was a different style. We got pyschedelic rock Oompas, classic rock Oompas, Bollywood Oompas, and the last song was the best.
And Willie Wonka himself. He can tempt me with his candy, well Johnny Depp can. He did not remind me of Miachael Jackson so much. With that ill timed laugh he was more like...Pee Wee Herman. (Makes sense considering this is a Tim Burton Movie)
I was about to melt at the image of Johnny Depp in Jungle explorer mode, complete with Pith helmet.
Great movie.
