Legend of Korra based Plot Bunny that is.
First evening after Pema gives birth and Amon attacks the air temple. While the rest of the Team Avatar 2.0 are fighting his mooks, Amon and a few of his soldiers manage to creep into the nursery.
Just as Amon is about to put his hand on the infant, Pema goes Fox Xanatos on his ass due to my theory that she is Ty Lees youngest daughter she not only knows the Chi blocking techniques, but also some of the Kyoshi fighting skills that Ty Lee had learned.

Unrelated: I think getting in touch with the spiritual side of bending is going to be the key to stopping and reversing Amon's rampage. I've always had a theory that Spiritbending only worked on Ozai because he was all about power, and had no regard for the spiritual aspects of the art.
